Mrs. Enice Faircloth Haney, 86

June 1, 1926 — June 16, 2012

AUTRYVILLE Mrs. Enice Faircloth Haney, 86, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Enice was born on June 1, 1926 to George and Nannie Faircloth, grew up in the Hayne community, and was the last surviving sibling of eight children. She married Lester Haney, who fondly referred to her as "Doe", on September 5, 1944, and they celebrated 53 years of marriage together. They resided in Hayne where they raised their five children: Gerald, Carolyn, Susan, Frances, and Melba. Enice worked as both a seamstress and a homemaker, and instilled in her children the importance of independence and a strong work ethic. She was a long-time member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, and her Christian values were evident to all who met her. She took pride in both her church and in being a servant for the Lord. She was never hesitant to speak her mind and to stand up for what was right. Enice loved to fish, loved to read, and loved spending time in both her vegetable and flower gardens. But above anything else, she loved spending time with her family. She loved family gatherings of all kinds, and it always put a smile on her face when all her family was together. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her most prized possessions, and quality time spent gardening with her son and annual trips taken with her girls were always things she looked forward to. Enice will be remembered for many things, including her cooking. Visitors to her home knew they would always find homemade biscuits in the oven, and her family always looked forward to her chicken and pastry. She was most famous for her banana pudding and seven-layer chocolate cake, and loved that these items were always requested by others for Homecoming at Pleasant Union. Whether she was known as Doe, Mama, Granny, Aunt Enice, or Miss Enice does not matter, for she will be missed by all who met her. She passed on many things to those she left behind, including a strong belief in the Lord, and the importance of family. Enice is survived by her children: Gerald Haney of Autryville, Carolyn and Joe Holland of Salemburg, Susan and Ray Adcox of Fayetteville, Frances and Danny Harding of Stedman, and Melba and Toby Boyette of Clinton; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Honeycutt and Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, and other times at her home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pleasant Union Baptist Church, 2300 Pleasant Union Church Road, Roseboro, NC 28382.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with Rev.
