Mrs. Elva Smith McDuffie Dix, 78 of 459 Cain Loop Road, died on Monday, March 21, 2011 at The Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Windsor United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Tim Reaves officiating.
Mrs. Dix was born on May 1, 1932 in Bladen County to the late Raymond B. and Minnie Ann Kinlaw Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert McDuffie and Steve Dix; one son, John Michael McDuffie; one daughter, Bobbie Sue Brew; two brothers, R.B. Smith and Adell "Bill" Smith; and one sister, Sadie Smith Sasser. She worked in the Cosmetics department in the Retail Industry.
Mrs. Dix is survived by: her son-in-law, Wilbur Brew of Leland, NC; four grandchildren, Wendy Thompson and husband, Gray of Hopkins, SC, Greg Brew and wife, Laura of Rocky Point, NC, Michelle McDuffie and John McDuffie; and seven great grandchildren, Tori Thompson, Ashlee Thompson, Gray Thompson, Jr., Brittany Brew, Luke Brew, Layla Brew and Greg Brew, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:30 to 2:00 P.M. at Windsor United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, 11616 NC Hwy. 242 N., Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
Elva's family would like to thank her church family and friends for the prayers, cards, gifts and visits during her illness. A special Thank You to Leland House in Leland, NC, and Community Hospice in Fayetteville, NC, for the care that Elva received when she resided there.
