Elkin Vance Melvin

Mr. Elkin Vance Melvin, 85 passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Bethesda Healthcare Facility.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, January 28, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church, officiating will be Rev. David Beck.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the funeral home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Vance Melvin and Pauline Melvin; brothers, Steven Dunkin Melvin, Harvey Vance Melvin, Jr., Stewart Verdery Melvin and Harold Lee Melvin; sisters, Juanita Herbert, Mildred Bullock, Inza Williams; and Rea Scott.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, was a farmer, and he was the Fire Chief in Eastover for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy J. Melvin of Eastover; children, Tony Vance Melvin & wife, Glenda "Susie" of Eastover and Glenda M. Jackson & husband, Lewis of Newton Grove; brother, John "Jake" Curtis Melvin & wife, Connie of Eastover; grandchildren, Tony Vance Melvin, II & wife, Angie of Eastover and Lindsey M. Scott & husband, Harvey of Fayetteville and great grandchildren, Nicholas Vance Melvin, Addyson Faith Scott and Madelyn Grace Scott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 3947 Dunn Road, Eastover, NC  28312.
