Mrs. Elizabeth Royal Spell, 87 of Salemburg went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Berryhill and Rev. Bryan Strickland officiating.  Burial will follow in the Spell Cemetery, Dunn Road, Roseboro.

Mrs. Spell was a native of Sampson County, the daughter of Ivey D. Royal and Robetha Hollingsworth Royal.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James B. Spell and brother, Turman D. “Pete” Royal.  She was homemaker.

She is survived by a son, Mike Spell and wife, Janice of Salemburg; daughter, Shari Hall and husband, Irvin, Jr. of Salemburg; three grandchildren, Kelly Spell, Shannon New (Jason) and Madison Mooney (Austin); two great grandchildren, Mary Beth New and Brooke New; four step grandchildren, Jacklyn Johnson (Shane), Michael Barnett, Cody Barnett and Hannah West (Jordan); five step great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Rosalena Dobbins and 3HC Hospice for their love and care given to Mrs. Elizabeth Spell.

The family will receive friends from 6 -8 PM on Saturday evening at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home.
