GARNER

Mrs. Elizabeth B. "Polly" Maxwell, 89 of 601 Lakeside Drive, Garner, and formerly of Stedman, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Lawndale Manor Assisted Living in Garner.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Stedman, with Rev. James Koo officiating. A private burial will be held on Monday.

She was born on August 12, 1925 in Greene County, N.C., to the late William Henry and Mary Winifred McLawhorn Britt. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lacy W. Maxwell; two sisters, Katie Lee Mooring and Willie Mae Taylor; and two brothers, Russell Britt and Tom Britt.

Polly was a 1945 Cadet Nurse Graduate of Highsmith Hospital School of Nursing. She joined Cokesbury United Methodist Church of Stedman in 1948. In 2011, she went on the Flight of Honor that went to the National WWII Memorial and other points of interest.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Poole and husband Dewey, Sandra Varner and husband Ron all of Garner; seven grandchildren, Nicole Perry and husband Ken, Natalie Britt, Tyler Poole and wife ReBecca, Matthew Poole and wife Toni, Ashley Reffit and husband Seth, Tiffany Mitchell and husband Billy, Shane McLaurin; 11 great grandchildren, Ethan, Peyton, Nathan, Ty, McKenzie, Cameron, Carter, Kasey, Olivia, Colin, Liam; and a sister-in-law, Doris Britt.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 P.M. Friday afternoon at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 7536 Clinton Road, Stedman.
