Mr. Elget George Herring, 85

STEDMAN Mr. Elget George Herring, 85 of 995 Fred Hall Road, Stedman, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Stedman Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville. Mr. Herring was born on October 27, 1926 in Dillon, South Carolina, to the late Walter J. and Beunia Elvington Herring. He retired as a Supervisor with Civil Service after 30 years. He is survived by: his wife, Dollie Cashwell Herring of the home; one daughter, Barbara Harrison and husband, Evans; one brother, Rufus Herring of New Jersey; one sister, Julia Mae Rogers of Lumberton; and one granddaughter, Tracey. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
