Edna Gray Williford Matthews, 89, of Autryville, peacefully passed away on the 10th of December in Dunn, N.C. with family at her side.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Honeycutt officiating. There will be a walk through viewing from 3-5 PM Saturday at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. The family will not be present. At others times the family will be at the home of her daughter, 75 Bayside Road, Dunn. NC.

Edna was born on the 18th of June, 1931 by Owen Martin Williford and Mertie Jackson Williford. She is an alum of Plain View School and proudly represented the Clement community. She married Royal Devon “Billy” Matthews on the 11th of October, 1953. Edna retired as a teacher’s assistant with Howard Hall Elementary in Fayetteville, N.C and is recognized as a member in the Woman’s Club in Fayetteville, N.C

Edna is preceded in death by her son Terry Devon Matthews, husband Royal Devon “Billy” Matthews, granddaughters Sarah Ann Davis and Elizabeth Gray Davis, brothers William Martin Williford (Louise), Frank Williford, Joe Williford, and sister Dora Williford Pla.

Edna is survived by daughter Lisa Renee Matthews Davis (Mark), brothers Clifford “Cliff” Williford (Alice) of Clinton, N.C. and James Larry Williford of Dunn, N.C., sisters Ruth Elaine Williford Fowler (Charlie) of Knightdale, N.C., Mary Ann Williford Ritenour (Chuck) of Pennsylvania and Linda Pearl Williford Chestnutt (Richard) of Clinton, N.C., sister in laws Ann Williams Williford of Autryville, N.C. and Elaine Hall Williford of Garner, N.C., grandchildren Travis Devon Matthews (Kelli) of Dunn, N.C., Jonathan Lee Matthews (Ashley) of Autryville, N.C., Jessica Renee Davis of Autryville, N.C., Olivia Nicole Davis of Dunn, N.C., and great grandchildren Mason Royal Matthews, Noah Scott Matthews, and Cooper Daniel Matthews.
