LEXINGTON, NC
Mrs. Edna Hood Simmons, 92 of Oriole Drive, Lexington, and formerly of the Parkersburg Community, Garland, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
A second service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Parkersburg Baptist Church, 204 Reeves Road, Garland, with Rev. Bryan Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Mrs. Simmons was born December 3, 1922 in Wayne County to Harvey Leon Hood, Sr. and Martha Edgerton Hood. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Edward Simmons; three daughters, Gail Keith, Verbie Jordan and Diana Lynn Simmons; an infant son; three brothers, Harvey Hood, Jr., Floyd Hood, Thomas Allen Hood, and infant brother, Joe Carlton Hood. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Simmons and wife Susan of Lexington, Butch Simmons of Lexington, and Tommy Simmons of Walkertown; three brothers, J.B. Hood of Florence, SC, Roy Hood of Toronto, Canada, and James Hood of Irvington, KY; three sisters, Thelma Williams of Roseboro, Eunice Carter of Turkey and Annette Robinson of Rose Hill; 26 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
