Mrs. Edna Ray Capps McPhail, 90, of Salemburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunn.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Adam Capps officiating. The burial will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:50 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Union Grove Baptist Church prior to the service.

Mrs. McPhail was a native of Sampson County, the daughter of Elbert G. Capps and Eva Sessoms Capps. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Charles Edsel McPhail.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda M. Horne of Salemburg, and Jewel M. Williams of Salemburg; one son, Leonard McPhail of Roseboro; five grandchildren, Jeremy Horne (Tiffany M.), Bryan McPhail (Jaimisson), Jason Horne (Tiffany A.), Brooke Williams, and Brandon Williams (Jessica); and seven great-grandchildren.
