SALEMBURG
Mr. E. Blackman Hollingsworth, Jr., 79, of 513 S. Main Street, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jeff Bartlett, Rev. Roger White and Sheriff Jimmy Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hollingsworth was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Edward Blackman Hollingsworth, Sr. and Eva Owens Hollingsworth. He was a State Probation and Parole officer with the State of North Carolina and retired after 22 years of service. He was a US Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church and was licensed by the NC Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church as a local church minister. He served his local church as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendant and Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Hollingsworth is survived by: wife, Frances Holland Hollingsworth, of the home; two daughters, Gail Joyner and husband Delma and Sandra Lynch and husband Kenny, all of Salemburg; two sisters, Edna McPhail and Dixie Williams, both of Salemburg; two brothers, Bruce Hollingsworth, of Hampstead and Glenn Hollingsworth, of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Paula Joyner, Mikayla Lynch and Danielle Lynch, all of Salemburg; lots of special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday night from 6 until 8 P.M. at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
