Douglas Eric Pruitt, 54 passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at his home.
Graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 25, 2025 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:15 PM Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman prior to the graveside service.
Douglas is preceded in death by his mother, Susan Whitworth Clary; and his special granny, whom he was very close to Ollie Whitworth.
Douglas was a Veteran of the United States Army, having endured many injuries while serving overseas. He loved defending his country, sharing stories about his army days, working on cars, and Nascar racing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his Pops, Ralph Clary; son, David Williams (Carly); sisters, Rebecca Pruitt (Bryan), Sandra Spry (Rob) and Kim Humphries (Scott); longtime girlfriend of 14 years, Linda Ward, and her son, Trey Ward; grandchildren, Weston, Levi and Barrett; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to a local animal rescue in Doug’s honor. Contributions may be sent to:
