CLINTON
Mr. Douglas Lynn Pope, Sr., 60 of 2226 Rabbit Street, Clinton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 6, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andy Wood and Rev. E.C. Mattocks officiating. Burial will follow at the Harnett Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Pope was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Evander and Eula Tew Pope. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and two brothers, Tony Pope and Franklin Pope. He was a truck driver for Lundy's Packing Company for many years. He was a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.
He is survived by: his wife, Linda Barber Pope of the home; one daughter, Susie Pope Phillips and husband, Neil of Clinton; one son, Lynn Pope and wife, Colleen of Clinton; two sisters, Gertrell Hudson of Salemburg and Delores Quinn and husband, Timmie of Clinton; and five grandchildren, Vander Phillips, Avery Phillips, Evan Pope, Nathan Pope and Annielynn Pope.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home.
