Ms. Dorothy Eloise (Jones) Melvin, 88 passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Bethesda Healthcare Facility in Eastover.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Salem United Methodist Church.  Officiating will be Rev. Francis Daniel.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM Friday at the church prior to the service.

She was born in Cumberland County to the late Joe Cephus Jones and Victoria Hobson Jones.  She is also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Elkin Vance Melvin.

She was a homemaker and helped on the family farm with her late husband for many years.  She was also a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church and was a seamstress with MJ Soffe.

She is survived by her son, Tony Vance Melvin & wife, Glenda “Susie” Fisher Melvin; daughter, Glenda M. Jackson & husband, Lewis of Newton Grove; sister, Bonnie Faye Coates of Godwin; grandchildren, Tony Vance Melvin, II & wife, Angie of Eastover and Lindsey M. Scott & husband, Harvey of Fayetteville; and great grandchildren, Nicholas Vance Melvin, Addyson Faith Scott and Madelyn Grace Scott.
