Dorothy Fay (Averitt) Baker

Ms. Dorothy Fay (Averitt) Baker, 94 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Carolina Rehab Center of Cumberland.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, January 8, 2022 at McDaniel Family Cemetery (1925 Cedar Creek Road, Fayetteville behind Judson Church Cemetery), officiating will be Rev. Andy Wood.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.  There will be a funeral procession from the funeral home to the graveside service.

Dorothy was born in Cumberland County to the late Carl Averitt and Lula Grace Byrd Averitt.  In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie H. Baker, Sr.; sons, Jessie Baker, Jr. and David James Baker; sisters, Elizabeth Norton and Francis Dees; and her brother, Jay Averitt.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Steve Baker & wife, Kimberly of Stedman; daughter, Joyce "Sissy" Cain of Fayetteville; son, Harold Scott Baker of Stedman; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and brothers, Carl "Sammie" Averitt of Fayetteville and Roy Lee Averitt of Virginia.
