Doris J. (Rice) Moody

WHITE OAK Mrs. Doris Rice Moody, 74 of White Oak, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. She was born December 23, 1945 in Bladen County and was the daughter of Abner W. and Ellen Jane Pleasants Rice.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Ben Moody; and one brother, Elwood Rice.  She was a retired seamstress. She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Lawless (Jim) of White Oak, Juanita Moody of White Oak, Stephanie Moody (Pernell) of White Oak; five grandchildren, Samantha Jackson Heustess (Lonnie), Courtney Melvin, Johnathan Melvin, Jr., Brianna McNeill, Javonta Matthews; two great grandchildren, Xander Heustess, Kennedy Heustess; one sister, Gail King of White Oak; two brothers, Jimmy Rice (Faye) of White Oak, Edwin Rice (Laura) of Elizabethtown; and special nephew, Charlie King. The funeral service will be held at White Oak Family Worship Center, 1944 Burney Road, White Oak, on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 1:00pm with Reverend Randy Locklear officiating.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 to1:00pm prior to the service. Butler Funeral Home of Roseboro is serving the family.
