Doris Horne Johnson, 94 went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 29, 2024 at The Gardens of Roseboro.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Pastor Larry McCarty & Rev. Tommy Honeycutt.   Burial will follow at Sandy Horne Cemetery in Autryville.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman and other times at the home of her son Steve Barnes 893 South River Road Autryville, NC.

Doris was born in Sampson County to the late Dan and Stella McLaurin Horne.  She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Stephen Barnes; second husband, William H. Johnson; siblings, Eldridge Horne, Bill Horne, and Gladys Taylor; step-son, David Johnson; son-in-law, Bobby Williams; and daughter-in-law, Denise Barnes.

Doris was a member of Hall’s Methodist Church.  She loved doing word search puzzles and coloring inspirational pictures to give to her family.  Doris had been at The Gardens of Roseboro for nine years, where she truly loved the residents and staff there and the activities, especially bingo.  She never met a stranger, and will be truly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Deborah Williams (Hubert Jones) of Autryville; son, Steve Alan Barnes (Tammy Simmons) of Autryville; 3 grandchildren, Misty McLamb (Derek) of Roseboro, Nicholas Barnes (Jennifer Whitney) of Garland, and Kasey Adair (Kyle) of Eastover; 6 great grandchildren, Dawson McLamb (Elizabeth), Jenna and Molly McLamb, Koltlyn and Kimberlin Barnes, and Kinley Adair; great great grandson, Brewer McLamb; sisters, Elsie Montgomery (Harold)  of Fayetteville, and Peggy Stone (Pete) of Autryville; sister-in-law, Lottie Horne; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, cash donations may be made in Doris's memory to The Gardens of Roseboro to help support the resident's activities.  If you want to make out a check to one of the family members they will ensure that it gets to the nursing home.
