Mr. Donald Morris Mcduffie, 69

WHITE OAK Mr. Donald Morris McDuffie, 69 of 388 Live Oak Methodist Church Road, White Oak, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his home. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Live Oak United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan Mills, Rev. Chris O'Briant and Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He was born on October 28, 1944 in Fayetteville, NC, to the late Lacy and Hazel Rice McDuffie. At the age of twelve, he became manager of C.R. Smith Grocery for three summers. He worked other summers for Lacy McDuffie Logging Company until he graduated from Stedman High School with honors in 1963. He owned and operated Riverside Service in Elizabethtown from 1965 to 1968, when he began working at Rohm and Haas in the Accounting Department and eventually was promoted to Cost Accountant before leaving in 1976. At that time, he and his partner subcontracted construction work for Eastern Builders in Jacksonville. He went in the firewood business in 1976 and became Cost Accountant for Daniel Construction Company at DuPont from 1977 to 1982. He was then Assistant Controller at D.R. Allen & Sons. From 1983 until retirement, he was associated with Ralph M. Williams & Associates of Marion, Indiana, who built three motels/hotels at Exit 49, Fayetteville, NC. His last job was Construction Project Manager. He is survived by: his wife of 36 years, Paulette; two daughters, Georgia Mallette of Tar Heel and Lisa Mallette Lamiman and husband, Todd of Oak Island; two grandsons, Will and Tyler Lamiman of Oak Island; one brother, Farrell McDuffie of White Oak; three sisters, Deane Jamieson of Mesa, AZ, Faye Richardson of Fayetteville and Beverly Wolz and husband, Tim of Graham; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the following: Gibson Cancer Center, 1200 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, NC 28358; Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401; or the Youth Activities Center of the Bladen United Methodist Charge, P.O.
