ROSEBORO Mrs. Della Mae Merritt Warren, 79, of 2663 Andrews Chapel Road, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at her home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Mintz Baptist Church with Dr. John McBride officiating. Burial will follow in Roseboro Cemetery. Mrs. Warren was born on May 31, 1931 in Sampson County to the late DeLeon and Annie Tew Merritt. She was the oldest active member of Mintz Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Warren and a sister Eloise Townsend. Mrs. Warren is survived by: three daughters, Kay Warren Gay and husband Gerald of Wilmington, Jeannie Warren Szilagyi and husband Joe of Roseboro and Kimberly Warren Heath and husband Bobby of Clinton; son, Howard Anthony "Tony" Warren and wife Willa of Roseboro; two sisters, Marie Pope and Evelyn Pearson, both of Clinton; brother, Elwood Merritt, of Roseboro; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday night from 6 till 8 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be made to Mintz Christian Academy, 3761 Old Mintz Highway, Roseboro, NC 28382.
