AUTRYVILLE

Mr. David Calvin Matthews, Sr., 89 of 4947 Maxwell Road, Autryville, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at Highsmith Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, March 22, at Bethabara United Methodist Church, Autryville, with Reverend Hank Dunbar officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born October 17, 1926 in Sampson County and is preceded in death by his parents, Jenkins and Mary Faircloth Matthews; and four brothers. He was enlisted for two years in the United States Navy and for three years in the United States Marine Corp. He then retired as a Supervisor in the Textile Industry.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Matthews; sons, David Calvin Matthews, Jr. and wife Cindy, David Michael Matthews and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Gina Honeycutt, April Dominguez and husband Frankie, Krystle Skinner and husband Jason, Brook Matthews, Angela Matthews, Cameron Matthews, Shelby Matthews, Mark Miller and wife Gaiya; great grandchildren, Kyle Honeycutt, Gavin Matthews, Kallie Skinner; brothers, Blackman Matthews, Jesse Matthews; and sisters, Helen Barefoot, Rachel Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, March 21, at Bethabara United Methodist Church, 4725 Maxwell Road, Autryville, and other times at the home.
