David Glenn Gilmore

David Glenn Gilmore, 76 of Shallotte, formerly of Stedman, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at McLeod Health Seacoast Hospital in Little River, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Rev. Rory Thigpen.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

David is preceded in death by his parents, George Thomas Gilmore and Alma Faulk Gilmore.

David was co-owner of Sunnyside Furniture from 1976-1992.  He then went to Horne's Furniture where he worked until his retirement in 2017.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sylvia Layton Gilmore; children, Laura Smith, and David Graham Gilmore & wife, Kim; mother-in-law, Barbara Layton; grandchildren, Hallie Correll & husband, Paul, Duncan Smith & wife, Liv, Carson Gunter, and Lily Grace Smith & husband, Dylan; great granddaughter, Lainey; siblings,. Larry Gilmore & wife Anne, Peggy Murray & husband, John, Bobby Gilmore & wife, Anne, Wayne Gilmore & wife, Rhonda, and Tim Gilmore & wife, Luann; and Desiree Nunnery, a special friend of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Shallotte Baptist Church, 394 Longwood Rd. NW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC  28469 or to The Masonic Children's Home, 600 College St., Oxford, NC  27565.
