Cornell Richard Lanning, 76 passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel, officiating will be Rev. James Atkinson.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 3:50 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Arthur Lanning, Sr. and Mildred Marcel Baker Lanning; and his siblings.

Cornell was a United States Army Veteran, and a former Civil Service Worker.  He was also a fireman with the Stedman Fire Department for 30 years.  He loved collecting coins and bottles.  His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Richard Lanning (Brittany) of Newark, OH, Brian Lanning of Fayetteville, and Brandon Lanning (Veronica) of Stedman; grandchildren, Tyler, Haven and Estella Lanning; sisters, Barbara Kulawika and Mary Lanning; and his brother, Raymond Lanning.
