Roseboro
Mr. Clyde Harper Holland, Sr., 81 of 314 E. Pleasant Street, Roseboro passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008 at his home.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P. M. Sunday at the Roseboro United Methodist Church
with the Revs. Jean Hood and Bobby Herring officiating. Burial will follow in the Roseboro Cemetery.
Mr. Holland was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Harvey and Eunice Fisher Holland. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Holland Warren.
He was a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He was affiliated with Butler Funeral Home, Roseboro, NC as a licensed mortician for fifty-five years and served as General Manager for many years. He was a member of the NC Funeral Directors Association, served on the Board of United Family Life Insurance Company and was a member of the Funeral Service Education Advisory Committee of Fayetteville Technical Community College. He was a member of the Roseboro United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Roseboro Lions Club and a fifty year member of the Roseboro Masonic Lodge, No 585 A. F. and A. M., member of Wilmington Scottish Rite and a member of the Sudan Shriners.
He is survived by his wife, Daphne McKenzie Holland; a son, Harper Holland and wife Michele, and a grandson, Christopher of Lake Mary, Florida. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruby Hudson and husband, Crafton of Zebulon and Helen Tew of Salemburg. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro from 6-8 PM Saturday, December 27, 2008.
