FAYETTEVILLE
MSG(Ret) Clayton Odell "Cliff" Humphreys, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at home. Mr. Humphreys was born October 10, 1925 in Bluffton Arkansas to the late Jesse and Lurie Humphreys. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Grice Humphreys. Mr. Humphreys served his country in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was a Bronze Star recipient for action in Korea. He retired from the Army in 1964 after 20 years service. He retired from a civil service job in the transportation field after twenty years of service at Fort Bragg. Mr. Humphreys was an avid hunter, enjoyed working in his garden and "tinkering" with his tractor. He served his church in several positions, including Sunday School Superintendent.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M., Saturday, January 17 at Live Oak United Methodist Church, 832 Live Oak Church Road, White Oak, NC with Revs. Tim Reaves and Chris Humphreys officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Janice Humphreys of Fayetteville and Pamela H. Yenor (husband Lorin) of Blaine, Minn.; four sons, James C. Humphreys (wife Charlene) of Ogden, Utah, Chris D. Humphreys (wife Melody) of Fayetteville, Gregory D. Humphreys (wife Debra) of Fayetteville and Anthony D. Humphreys (wife Julie) of Shelburne, VT; brother, Clemouth Humphreys ( wife Patricia) of Dermott, Arkansas; sister, Katherine Dalsis (husband Charles) of Dermott, Arkansas; close friend, Peggy Bulla of Vander; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and family at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman from 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, January 16.
