ROSEBORO
Mrs. Clara Keith Owen Williams, of Roseboro, passed away April 26, 2014 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
Clara was born July 25, 1919, to Allen Baxter and Lillie Baggett Owen. She lived in Roseboro with her parents and went to school there. Later she graduated from a business college. It prepared her to work for Butler Furniture Company and Butler Funeral Home where she worked for 42 years.
Clara met that special someone that God intended her to be with, Thomas Quinton Williams, and they were married almost 50 years. They made their home in Roseboro and celebrated their 49th anniversary before Quinton's death in 1995.
They never had any children, but they became the best aunt, uncle, great aunt and great uncle that any child could have. In that list include these surviving nieces and nephews: Anne Smith, caregiver to Clara, Joe Horne, Roger Horne, Gloria Gibson, Ricky Owen, Charles Owen and their many children. They also became the best honorary grandparents ever to Pastor Michael and Gail Gogdill's children, Jason and Joya.
She is also survived by her sister-in-laws: Rita Campbell and Pearl Faircloth. She is also survived by their children. They held a very high place in Clara's heart.
Clara gave her fullest devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her church, Roseboro First Baptist Church. She gave of herself in more ways than can be imagined.
Clara had many hobbies including cooking, knitting, crocheting, quilting and basket weaving. She used her talents to bless everyone. Cakes, cookies, kitchen towels and afghans were her gifts of love. She also gave of her time and showed up to shell peas, pick crops and freeze vegetables for those in need. With her hands, she truly gave her heart and love to all.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Roseboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Hampton Faircloth, Rev. Roger White and Dr. Mike Cogdill officiating. Interment will follow at the Roseboro Cemetery.
