Mrs. Clara Mae Lanier Smith, 85 of Dunn, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, September 19, at Lanier Family Cemetery, Old Fayetteville Road, Elizabethtown, with Reverend Ricky Manning officiating.

Born September 24, 1931 in Bladen County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Johnson Lanier. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Payton Smith; daughter, Darlene Smith Maynard; son, Ronald Smith; sister, Frances Johnson; and brothers, Herman Lanier, Evander Lanier. She worked as a Sales Associate with Roses in Dunn.

She is survived by her son, Gary Smith of Dunn; grandsons, Stephen Lee and wife Christina of Florida, Brandon Lee and wife Bridget of Dunn; granddaughter, Krystal Stewart and husband Randall of Elizabethtown; four great grandchildren; and sister, Louise Butler of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
