Mrs. Vinson was a native of Harnett County, the daughter of Louis Betha and Flora Mae Black Smith. Mrs. Christine was one of seven children.

Mrs. Christine graduated from Lillington High School in 1952. When she served as class officer, co-captain of the basketball team, played softball and served with FHA. After graduating high school Christine moved to Cumberland County and attended Worth Business College. During this time she met “DH” her husband of 59 years and 10 months.

Christine and D.H. later moved back to Beaver Dam where they worked and raised their children, Donna and Jimmy, and farmed. Christine worked with Cumberland County Agriculture Soil Conservation Service and retired after about 30 years of services.

Christine was very talented as she (worked, self-taught) played various musical instruments to include the organ, piano, harmonica and auto harp. Christine wrote many stories, poems and songs. She loved painting and has her painting throughout her home.

Christine loved her community and she loved her church, Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She was very dedicated as she worked many years to help provide a place in the community for people to gather with family and friends. She spent many years managing the community building. She spent countless hours, cleaning, painting and fundraising to keep the community center open and available for others to use. Christine also served on the Cumberland County Broad of Elections.

Yes, Christine loved her family, her church and her community. She was a great sister, wife, aunt, mother, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and friend. However above all she loved her Lord and Savior. Christine was a faithful and dedicated servant for 60 years as she served as Sunday school teacher, church secretary, a member of the choir and numerous committees.

Christine always said ….. “The most important thing in this life is to know where you will spend eternity.” Christine wanted everyone to know Jesus by sharing the gospel with others. Christine along with Mr. Compton and a few other sphere headed Beaver Dam Baptist Hispanic mission. Christine’s love for Christ was demonstrated as she loved sharing the Gospel with our seasonal Hispanic farmers who arrived late March and worked on the farms until October of each year. Christine took on the role of teaching English to numerous farmers which eventually grew unto not only learning English but also worship services and special events.

In honor of Miss Christine may we all have the desire to share the Gospel with everyone we meet. May our light continue to shine as others see Jesus in us.

Well Done,

Good and faithful servant

Since you have been faithful

Over a few things,

I will make you

Ruler over many things.

Matthew 25:21
