Christine Thomas Smith, 81

WHITE LAKE Christine Thomas Smith, 81 of White Lake, NC died Saturday morning at her home after a short illness. She was a Stay at home mom and later employed at Dannaher Controls. She was an active member of the White Lake Baptist Church where she dedicated 66 years of her life. On March 6, 2011 she was recognized and awarded for her years of service. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Smith Sykes of Raleigh, NC; son: Glen Smith and wife Judy of Deep Gap, NC; sister, Mary Jane Knowles, of Clinton, NC, sister-in-laws- Joyce P. Thomas of White Lake, NC: Virginia R. Thomas of Robersonville, NC; Allie Beal Thomas of Harrells, NC; Cornell S. Smith of Garland, NC; and Margaret S. Smith of Thomasville, NC. Four grandchildren Jill Rhae Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Douglas G. Smith of Greensboro, NC; Jeffrey S. Sykes of Charlotte, NC; Lori Beth Sykes of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews and many beloved friends in her community and church family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Gaddie C. Smith; and grandson Sgt. John McCellan Smith; as well as her four brothers and her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the White Lake Baptist Church 7585 NC Hwy 41 E. White Lake, 28337 Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, Roseboro NC The family will receive friends at 10am Monday Dec. 24, 2012 just before the 11am service held at White Lake Baptist Church. There will be a private family burial to follow services at the Thomas Family Cemetery.
