AUTRYVILLE
Mr. Charlie Carson Howard, 88 of 1030 Howard Road, died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Allen West and Rev. Paul Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Howard, a Sampson County native, was born on July 16, 1922, the son of the late James Carson and Carrie Matthews Howard. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, a successful farmer until retirement, and a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elma McCorquodale Howard, great-grandson, Charlie Jason "C.J." Barefoot, Jr., one brother, James C. Howard, and six sisters, Maggie Daniels, Rose Fann, Marie Sessoms, Annie Dell Daniels, Eula Bell Jackson and Mollie Spell.
He is survived by: two daughters, Phyllis Daniels and husband, Charles of Autryville, and Cathy Howard of Autryville; four grandchildren, Todd Daniels and wife, Jennifer, Wendy Hair and husband, Jerry, Tracey Jackson and husband, Michael, and Jason Barefoot and wife, Shannon; and six great grandchildren, Brett Daniels, Karsyn Daniels, Case Daniels, Trent Hair, Nicholas Hair and Hailey Barefoot; and one sister, Sudie Crumpler of High Point.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro, and other times at the home.
