GODWIN

Mr. Charles Street Stewart, 69 of 3255 Autry Mill Road, Godwin, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Clement Baptist Church with Dr. James Dees, Jr., Rev. Milton Little, Rev. Tommy Honeycutt and Bishop Warren Barfield, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Minson Williams Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart was born on July 30, 1945 in Sampson County to the late Lattie Malon and Ida Faircloth Stewart. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Marilyn Little.

He was a lover of all sports and was a mentor to young people with fishing, hunting and playing ball. He was a softball coach for men's softball teams for 35 years. He was a member of Clement Baptist Church and was a current member of the Cypress Creek Hunting Club. He was a farmer and then retired from the City of Fayetteville after 31 years.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patsy Matthews Stewart of the home; one son, Charles Rodney Stewart and fiance' Deanna Smith of Godwin; a god-child, Christopher Herrera; and one sister, Joyce S. Bullock of Godwin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman and other times at his home.
