Mr. Charles Payten Matthews, 47 of Richlands, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at ECU Health Duplin Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Roseboro First Baptist Church with Reverend Hampton Faircloth and Reverend Steven Burnham officiating.
Mr. Matthews was a native of Mecklenburg County, the son of Gary Gaston and Linda Robinson Matthews. He was preceded in death by his father.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Charles Payten Hawk and Jonathan Smith; his mother, Linda Faye Matthews; his sister, Valerie O’Neil; his brother, Gary Gaston Matthews, II; three nieces; and three nephews.
