Mr. Charles Bryan Medford, Jr., age 67 formerly of Union, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home in Stedman, NC. Mr. Medford was born and raised in Haywood County, NC a son of the late Charles Bryan Medford, Sr. and Ruth Marie Seay Medford. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served two tours in Vietnam and was a member of the Green Beret. Mr. Medford retired from DuPont and had previously worked with Milliken and Company. After making his home in North Carolina he ran his own farm, raising horses and cows and was an avid carpenter and furniture maker. Mr. Medford also ran his own saw mill. Surviving are one son, Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Medford of Missouri; one daughter, Carrie Ann Byrd of North Carolina; three sisters, Bonita Turner and husband Bill of Union, Mary Ann Murphy and husband Robert Paul of Putman, and Judith Elaine Scott and husband Kenny of Union; two brothers, Wid Medford and wife Marlene of Ohio and Billy Wayne Medford and wife Barbara of Union; and two grandchildren, Joel Bryan Medford and Trista Ann Medford. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Fannie Medford and maternal grandparents, Alonza and Leona Seay, all from Clyde NC; one sister, Joyce Gregory; one brother, Darryl Medford; one niece Wendy Murphy; and one nephew, David Michael Turner. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Greater Union Church conducted by Pastor Roger Estes. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Scott, Robert Scott, Lou May, Joseph Manuel, Earl Medford, Gene Seay, and Ray Bullard. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mr. Medford’s caregivers, Lou May and Joseph Manuel and wife Maile for their care and concern during his illness. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.

All services will be held in Union, SC by S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
