Charles L. Edwards, 83 went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a proud Army Veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division.  He graduated from Massey Hill High School and Layette College.  He was also a scout leader for Club Scout Pack 709 for 8 years, and a member of the Balance Farm Hunting Club for 25 years.  Charles also attended Bethany Crossroads Church.

Mr. Edwards was born on April 25, 1940 to the late, Ambrose and Mable Worrell Edwards.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Edwards; sisters, Aulby L. Edwards and Patricia A. Atkinson.

He is survived by sons, Charles L. Edwards, Jr. & wife, Phongsri of Jacksonville, AK and Brian K. Edwards of TX; stepson, Johnnie R. Owens & wife, Paula; 7 grandchildren; brother, Ambrose G. Edwards, Jr; sister, Linda Pruitt; and special cousins, Barbara Edwards & husband, Ertel.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.  A graveside service will follow in procession to Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery; where he will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Mary Sue, who went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2010, service will be with military honors beginning at 12:30 PM, officiating will be Rev. Jennifer Wise.
