FAYETTEVILLE
Mr. Charles Laverle Cain, Sr., 86, of 636 Dennis Harold Simmons Road, Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at North Carolina State Veterans Home in Fayetteville.
He was born on May 16, 1930 in Bladen County and is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Alpine and Bessie Rice Cain; daughter, Tammy Rovay Cain; and brother, Clayton Cain. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Kelly Springfield.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Nunnery Cain of the home; children, Lynn Cain Zetterberg and husband Roger of California, Connie Cain Griffin and husband Steve of Georgia, Tommy Buie and wife Katie of Virginia, Robin Kostszycki of Ocean Isle, Timothy Cain and wife Christy of Mississippi, Charles L. Cain, Jr. and wife Lana of Kentucky, Charlene Cain Fowler and husband Tommy of Fayetteville; twenty four grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and sisters, Roma Askea, Catherine Smith, Betty Blackman, Jolene Hopper, Betty Jean Guy.
A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 4, at his residence with Reverend Dr. Tim Reaves and Karen Davis officiating. The family will receive friends prior to Sunday at the home.
The family requests no flowers, but memorials can be sent to Live Oak United Methodist Church, 832 Live Oak Methodist Church Road, White Oak, N.C. 28399.
