Mr. Charles Douglas Averitt, 89

FAYETTEVILLE

Mr. Charles Douglas Averitt, Sr., 89 of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Autumn Wind Assisted Living in Roseboro.

Born on September 28, 1927 in Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Lester Douglas and Eula Harris Averitt. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Elberta Beard Averitt. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired after 35 years from PWC of Fayetteville.

He is survived by his children, Darlene A. Tatum and husband Kenneth of Fayetteville, and Charles David Averitt of Clinton; his sister, Mary Lou Boltinghouse and husband Charles of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Jonathan Averitt, Kenneth Tatum, Jr. and wife Kristi, and Robert Tatum; and his great grandchildren, Kiri and Kyli.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, February 17, at Butler Funeral Home with Dr. John Peverett officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45pm prior to the service.

Services are by Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman.
