FAYETTEVILLE
Retired Senior Master Sgt. Cecil Dwight Matthews, 78 of Fayetteville died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, December 30, 2013 in Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman with Dr. James E. Dees, Jr. and Mr. Ray Starling officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be at Maxwell Cemetery on Maxwell Road, Autryville, NC with military honors.
Mr. Matthews was a native of Cumberland County, the son of the late Cecil Otis and Pauline Williams Matthews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Matthews. He retired from the U. S. Air Force with 27 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Matthews of the home; two daughters, Renee' Guerard of Texas and Robin Carpenter of Texas; one son, Latham Schindler of Texas; two sisters, Donna M. Williams and husband, Jim of Fayetteville and Jo Anne M. Starling and husband, M. F. of Autryville; brother, A. B. Matthews and wife, Ruth of Wade; sister-in-law, Phyllis Matthews of Wade. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

American Heart Association Building, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or Clement Baptist Church Building Fund, 6175 Maxwell Road, Autryville, NC 28318.
