Mrs. Carolyn Smith West, 82 of Roseboro went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Elizabethtown Nursing Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Mintz Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. John McBride officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:50 PM on Thursday at Mintz Baptist Church prior to the graveside service and at other times at the home, 456 McDaniels Road, Roseboro, NC  28382.

Mrs. West was born in Duplin County.  She was the daughter of Bernice and Neta King Smith.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,  Dearl E. West; five sisters, Mary Nicholson, Marie Holland, Ruby Chesnutt, Joyce Pope and Linda Honeycutt; three brothers, James Smith, Billy Smith and Tony Smith.

She was a retired Deputy Clerk with the Sampson County Clerk of Superior Court and a member of Mintz Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Tonya Young and Regina Kook and husband, Chris all of Roseboro; four grandchildren, Nicholas West Young of Clinton, Casey Williford and husband, Vernon of Wade, Andrew Kook and wife, Amanda J. of Roseboro and Amanda E. Kook of Charleston, SC; four great grandchildren, Maddox Williford, Tanner Williford, Eli Kook and Ellie Kook; Sister, Dean Bland and husband, Everette of Clinton; brother, Earl Smith and wife, Christine of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Linda Hobbs, Kay Austin, Mable Butler and Barbara Maddox and the staffs of Elizabethtown Nursing Center and Liberty Hospice.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mintz Baptist Church, 3761 Old Mintz Hwy., Roseboro, NC  28382.
