Ms. Carol Ann Nixon, 62 of Autryville passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC after sudden illness while traveling.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 23 at the George Horne cemetery, South River Rd near Autryville, with Rev. Ricky Spell officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately after the service.

Ms. Nixon was a native of Sampson County, the daughter of Charlie Ford Nixon and Marie (Faircloth) Nixon.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  Carol was intelligent, loving, gentle and quiet. She was employed for 21 years as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Depts. of Highsmith-Rainey and Cape Fear Valley Hospitals in Fayetteville. She loved working as a E.D. nurse and was saddened when she retired early on medical disability.

Carol loved cats; previously owning three of her own and she visited the animal shelter when possible to give love and attention to the shelter cats.

She is survived by a half brother Robert Michael (Mike) Nixon of Clayton, GA.; a host of loving cousins and their families, and her long-time special friend, Steve Boyette.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sampson County SPCA, 168 Agriculture Place, Clinton, NC  28328.
