Mr. Brewer H. Autry, 77

FAYETTEVILLE Mr. Brewer H. Autry, 77 of Fayetteville passed away on Friday, March 7th at Cape Fear Valley Health System. He was born August 3, 1936 in Sampson County , the son of the late Percy and Pleasant Autry of Autryville where he attended Clement High School. He worked as a firefighter and was a Captain at Fayetteville Fire Department where he was affectionately known as "Captain B". For over 32 years he dedicated himself as being a leader, an instructor, mentor and a friend to hundreds of young firefighters. He was an ardent member of Fayetteville Community Church, where he represented the Band of Brothers wholeheartedly. A unique soul, Brewer was very clever, and enjoyed telling jokes and stories to friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.at Fayetteville Community Church, 2010 Middle River Loop, Fayetteville, NC, with the Rev. Ken Pritchard officiating. Burial will follow in George Horne Cemetery, Autryville, NC. Visitation with the family will be held at the church from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 PM prior to the funeral service. Mr. Autry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lila Horne Autry; his children, Richard Autry, Michael Autry and wife, Deborah and grandson Kristopher; Sean Autry and wife, Tiffany; sister, Elizabeth Benson; brother, Al "Delmore" Autry. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, William D. Autry and a sister, Doris Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville Community Church Building Fund, 2010 Middle River Loop, Fayetteville, NC 28312.
