Roseboro
Mrs. Brenda Kay McCarley Simpson, age 71 of Roseboro entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on December 2, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
She was born on July 27, 1953, in Calhoun County, Alabama, a daughter of the late Rev. Allen W. McCarley Sr. and Jessie Bennett McCarley.
Brenda was preceded in death by her brother Allen W. McCarley, Jr.; sisters Janette Player and Frances Frost.
She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church of God of Prophecy. She was a faithful believer with a love for the word of God. She enjoyed singing in the choir and solo along with serving her church in any capacity necessary. She loved her church dearly.
Brenda was a loving wife, mother and Nannie who was the soul and spirit of her family. She enjoyed spending time with the children and grandchildren and doing her best to spoil them rotten. Her other passion was cooking. Many have been blessed to enjoy her southern style cooking, cakes, pies and especially homemade biscuits. She was a compassionate caregiver to many in her family and seized any opportunity to help someone. If you needed her, she was always there.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 53 years Harry T. Simpson Sr of the home, two daughters, Gloria Rich, husband Anthony of Garland, Donna Hinds, husband Mark of Raleigh and a son Harry T. Simpson Jr. of Roseboro.
She was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Darryl Davis Jr., Hannah Rich, Sarah Rich, Matthew Rich, Grace Rich, Wyatt Simpson, Breanna Simpson, Kaelyn Simpson, Derrick Hinds and wife Fernanda, Brittney Hansen and husband Evan, Joshua Hinds, Caleb Hinds and Kaylee Hinds; two great-grandchildren, Emilia Hansen and Lyna Hinds. She is survived by one brother, Thomas McCarley and wife, Jian of Four Oaks and one sister, Margaret Beaudoin of Raeford.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Mt. Carmel Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Bryan Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Mt. Carmel Church of God of Prophecy Family Life Center and other times at the home.
