ROSEBORO
Mr. Bobby Gene Autry, Sr., 88 of Roseboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Roseboro Church of God, 501 S. West Street, Roseboro, with Pastor Gil Litada, Rev. Eddie Smith, Rev. Aaron Leonard, and Bishop Bryan Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at the Roseboro Cemetery.
Bobby was born March 2, 1938 in Scotland County and was the son of the late Herman James and Mary Ethel Holmes Autry. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Jean Autry Harris; and son-in-law, Dan Lapham. Bobby was a graduate of Roseboro School, the class of 1956. He worked as a Cable Foreman and retired from Civil Service at Fort Bragg as outside Plant Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Thelma Cannady Autry; daughter, Darlene A. Lapham of Clinton; son, Bobby Gene Autry, Jr. and wife, Rose of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Amy Bowman and husband, Justin of Richmond, VA, Christy Gaddis and husband, Earl of Spring Lake, April Hales and husband, Roger of Hope Mills, Jason Harris and wife, Audra of Honolulu, HI, Bryan Strickland and wife, Brooke of Autryville, Amanda Anderson and husband, Zachary of Richlands, Josh Smith of Clinton, and Joe Smith of Newton Grove; 24 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday evening at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro and other times at his home.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sampson Regional, UNC Wayne and Liberty Hospice.
Services are entrusted to Butler Funeral Home of Roseboro.
