Bishop Lawrence Odell "L.O." Bunce, 91

STEDMAN Bishop Lawrence Odell "L.O." Bunce, 91 of 6114 Sandy Creek Road, Stedman, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. The funeral will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Bethany Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Jeff Burkhardt, Rev. Jesse Matthews, Bishop Earl West and Bishop Jeffrey A. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He was born on September 25, 1922 in Cumberland County to the late Clarence C. and Ada Strickland Bunce. He is preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Doris Warren Bunce; and two sons, Jimmy O. Bunce and Bobby L. Bunce. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII and was a Church of God of Prophecy Minister. He is survived by: one daughter, Carolyn Stewart of Stedman; one brother, Leon Bunce of Fayetteville; one sister, Grace Matthews of Stedman; three grandchildren, Lorri Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Jamie Stewart of Stedman and Patrick Bunce of Manteo, NC; and five great grandchildren, Derek Jones of Tallahassee, FL, Jared Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Corinne Stewart of Stedman, Austin Stewart of Stedman and Warren Bunce of Manteo, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman and other times at the home.
