Mrs. Beverly J. Cooper

Beverly J. Cooper of Autryville, NC, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 31, 2015.

She was met by her beloved husband of 34 years James C. Cooper, and her mother Ruth Janet Mynes Darby. She is survived by her father Joseph P. Gordon, daughter Liane M. Smith, sons Thomas J. Smith, Brian S. Smith and step--children Dawn Williams, Jim Cooper, David Cooper and Jerry Cooper, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and dear sisters in Christ, Barbara Raimo and Betty Horne. Her only sibling Bruce C. Gordon passed away on July 6, 2015.

She served in the United States Army where she discovered her passion for nursing. Her dedication to her patients exemplifies her calling to serve her country and our Lord. She served as a missionary to several countries in Africa where she helped those suffering from the affects of war, poverty, and oppression. She also had a special love for animals especially those abandoned or abused and had many special companions throughout her life. She loved working in her garden, watching the hummingbirds (the "little guys") with J. C., walks down to the river, and long talks on the porch. She held fond memories of gatherings and good times shared with JC and the many dear friends in the Special Forces Community. She was an avid poet eloquently expressing the passions of her heart. She will be so very missed by her friends and family. Her family would like to expecially thank Pastor Phil Spears and the Stedman Baptist Church community for all of their love, prayers and support.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11 AM at Stedman Baptist Church, 7750 Clinton Road, Stedman, NC 28391.
