Mr. Benjamin Franklin “Goodie” Spell, 88 of Roseboro went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 21, 2025 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Berryhill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Spell was a native of Sampson County, the son of Charles Benjamin and Ida Marie Simmons Spell. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Ruby Doris Williams Spell; a granddaughter, Lindsey Spell; brother, Bud Spell and two sisters, Carolyn Johnson and Mary Donna Bullard.

Mr. Goodie Spell was a hardworking man. He started working as a young boy in his parents fields on the farm. He worked at Thompson Supply in Vander for several years, ran a body shop and farmed. In 1983 he went to work at Westpoint Pepperell until retiring. He along with his wife built and owned Salem Pizza in Salemburg.

He is survived by four children, June Fields and husband, Mark of Roseboro; Randy Spell and wife, Angie of Roseboro; Allen Spell and wife, Kaylee of Salemburg; and Keith Spell of Roseboro; his daughter-in-law, Donna Spell of Roseboro; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Honeycutt (Cortney), Brandon Carter (Brittney), Tracy Williams (Jonathan), Tara Simpson, Jessica Allen (Gibby), Troy Spell (Lauren), Savannah Alderson (Dallen), Auston Spell (Karen) and Benjamin Spell; fourteen great-grandchildren, Aubrey Williams, Emery Williams, Denton Williams, Kerigan Simpson, Kenedy Simpson, Brycen Carter, Brayden Carter, Brynna Carter, Jordyn Jackson, Paisley Jackson, Dawson Allen, Gunner Spell, Maebry Spell and Tyson Guyton; brother, Mann Spell and wife, Betty Jean Spell of Roseboro.
