Mr. Barney Alexander Edge, 59

CLINTON Mr. Barney Alexander Edge, 59, of 401 Harmony Church Road, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Meadows and Rev. Dudley Neal officiating. Mr. Edge was born on January 20, 1951 in Robeson County to the late Gordon and Doris Patrick Edge. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Waylen Edge and David Edge and a sister, Mary Lee Wright. Mr. Edge was a retired veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard with 30 years of service, was a Sampson County Forest Ranger with the NC Forestry Service before retiring with 28 years of service and was a member of the Roseboro Fire Department with 28 years of service. Mr. Edge is survived by: wife, Theresa Edge, of the home; two sons, Robert Edge and wife Jennifer, of Summerville, SC and Daniel Edge and companion Aaron, of Des Moines, Iowa; step-son, Robert Wilkins and wife Ashley, of Richmond Hill, GA; daughter, Claire Edge, of Clinton; three brothers, Larry Edge and Sam Edge, both of Fayetteville and Wayne Edge, of Fuquay-Varina; two sisters, Judy Zeiba, of Sanford and Cathie Johnson, of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Christin, William, Jackson and Peyton. The family will receive friends on Thursday night from 6 till 8 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elizabeth Baptist Church, 1481 Fleet Cooper Road, Roseboro, NC 28382.
