In Loving Memory of Barbara Hughes Edge June 13, 1933 – April 17, 2026 

Mrs. Barbara Hughes Edge 92 of Fayetteville, NC passed away Friday April 17 surrounded by family.

 Barbara lived a life rooted in faith, guided by love, and defined by selflessness. She was a woman who didn’t simply speak about kindness—she lived it, quietly and faithfully, every single day. A devoted woman of God, Barbara’s life reflected her deep and unwavering faith. It showed in her gentle spirit, her patient heart, and the way she cared for others without ever asking for anything in return. She found joy in serving, comfort in prayer, and strength in her relationship with the Lord. Above all, Barbara cherished her family.

 As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the steady presence so many leaned on—the one who listened without judgment, loved without condition, and gave without measure. Her warmth filled every room, and her love created a foundation that will continue to hold her family together for generations to come. She had a quiet strength about her—a grace that made people feel at ease and a kindness that left a lasting impression. Whether through a soft smile, a reassuring word, or a simple act of care, she made all those who knew her feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. She was deeply loved, and she will be profoundly missed. 

She is survived by her devoted husband Leonard C. Edge Sr.; children, Leonard (Lynn) C. Edge Jr. (Charlene) of Gastonia, Todd Edge (Jill) of Fayetteville, Lori Norton of Stedman; grandchildren, Leonard C. (Clay) Edge (Sokhunthea) of Pineville, Justin Edge (Martha) of Gastonia, Brittney Miller of Stedman, and Lindsay Bowden (Richard) of Fayetteville; great grandchildren Makenzie, Connor, Langston, Haisley, and Willam; siblings Ray Hughes, Mary Rose O’Brien, and Billy George Hughes. 

She is proceeded in death by her parents Thomas and Thelma Hughes and siblings. The legacy she leaves behind is one of compassion, devotion, and unwavering love. Her light lives on—in the hearts of her family, in the memories she created, and in the faith she carried so gracefully throughout her life.

 In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Stedman PH Church in memory of Mrs. Barbara Edge.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Stedman Pentecostal Holiness Church in Stedman, officiating will be Pastor Michael Bartlett and Pastor Kevin Carswell. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
