Arthur Elwood Spell, known as Art to his friends and family, passed away on July 28, 2024, at 72, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Born on November 19, 1951, in Roseboro, North Carolina, Art was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Euphie Spell, and his brother, Nixon Spell. He was a man of many talents and an unwavering pillar of strength and love for his family and community.

Art was Connie's beloved husband, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love story for 52 years. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters: Christy Spell Parker, husband Stephen Parker of Clinton, and Regina Spell Eason, husband Johnny Eason of Stedman. Art’s role as a father was one of his greatest joys, and he instilled in his daughters the values of hard work, integrity, the importance of family, and, most importantly, keeping God first and foremost.

His love for his family extended to his cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Parker Shannon of Clinton, Rebecca Parker Maccioli, husband, Remy Maccioli of Durham, Reece Lane Eason, and Peyton Leigh Eason of Stedman, who brought him immense joy and pride. The birth of his great-grandson, Charles Parker Shannon, added another layer of happiness to Art’s life. He was a supportive and dependable brother-in-law to Mitchell Faircloth and his wife, Sarah Faircloth, and to Lisa Faircloth Crunkleton and her husband, Richard Crunkleton. He also enjoyed being an uncle to seven nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. Art was known for his playful spirit and the warmth he brought to family gatherings.

Art was a man of intelligence, ambition, and a strong work ethic. Throughout his life, he pursued and achieved professional certifications and licenses, including a master electrician certification holding licenses in multiple states, a general contractor, a construction manager, and a real estate broker. He worked many years at various jobs and organizations in numerous roles. He retired from Horne Brother’s Construction as a construction manager, where he was a vital part of their cellular and solar division. His professional accomplishments were a testament to his dedication and his belief in the value of lifelong learning.

Beyond his professional life, Art was a man of many interests. He found solace and pleasure in tending to his chickens and cows, riding his tractor, and working in his garden, a pastime reflecting his love for nature and nurturing spirit. Traveling was another passion of his, as he relished exploring new places and creating lasting memories with his family. Above all else, Art's favorite moments were those spent surrounded by his beloved family, whether it was a quiet evening at home or a large, laughter-filled family gathering. Art was firm in his faith. He always gave God the glory and knew that God was always faithful! He never once hesitated to volunteer in his church when needed. Art and his wife, Connie, were instrumental in starting the Senior Adult Ministry at his church, Spirit of Life, where they faithfully guided and ministered to the senior adults,

Art's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the indelible impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. He was a friend to many, known for his generosity, compassion, wisdom, unwavering faith in God, and ability to brighten the darkest days. His presence was a comfort, and his absence will be deeply felt by all touched by his kindness and warmth.

As we say goodbye to Art, we find comfort in the countless memories and the love he shared so freely. He lived a life full of purpose and joy, and though he will be missed every day, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Art's story is not one of an ending but a beautiful narrative that will be told and retold, keeping his memory alive for generations to come. Even in the end, he was still giving as he chose to be an organ and tissue donor.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Rest in peace, dear Art. Your love and your legacy will never be forgotten.
