Autryville

  • Arthur DeJuan Hairr, lovingly known as Juan, 56 of Autryville, passed away on October 10, 2026, at Mount Olive Nursing Center. He was born the baby of seven children on April 29, 1971, in Sampson County, North Carolina.

  • Juan bravely battled cancer. After being diagnosed, he went to a skilled nursing facility in Mount Olive. Throughout that time, he was surrounded by the steady love of family and friends who visited every day to spend time with him and pray with him.

Juan will be remembered as a man who found joy in the things he loved most. He was a well-known gun enthusiast and gunsmith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, turkey shoots, and he especially loved the mountains. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and cooking out, simple pleasures that brought people together and reflected his love of the outdoors, fellowship, and good times shared with others.

Juan worked as a linesman for many years with BVJ Co in Clinton NC and Terry Spell Mechanical in Autryville.

Above all, Juan’s life was deeply rooted in family. He will be dearly missed by his sister Janet Ladd and her husband Bill, his sister Joan Bullington and her husband Garry, his brother Joel Hairr, and his sister Sharlene Ontiveros and her husband Jaime. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Juan leaves behind three children, Hunter Hairr and wife Amy of Clinton, Ashton Hairr McLean and husband Colby, two grandchildren Ryder Hairr and Cash McLean of Roseboro and son, Robert Allen Hairr of Roseboro, who carry forward his memory.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Warren Hairr; his cherished mother, Ethel Arlene Sessoms; his brother, Jerry Hairr; and his sister, Darlene Lupo. Their memory remained part of his life, and now he rests with those who went before him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 2pm with a service following at 3pm at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W Roseboro St, Roseboro, NC 28382. Immediately after, the family will gather at the Lonie Carter Cemetery in Autryville, for interment.

Juan’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, in the stories shared by family and friends, and in the enduring love that surrounded him throughout his life.
