Mrs. Alzada Smith Melvin, 88

Mrs. Alzada Smith Melvin, 88 of 4125 NC Hwy. 242, Roseboro, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Bethesda Health Care Facility in Eastover.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 16 at Peters Creek Baptist Church, 13176 Peters Creek Church Road, Roseboro, with Dr. David Bays officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Family Cemetery.

Mrs. Melvin was born on June 21, 1927 in Cumberland County and is preceded in death by her parents, Howard D. and Eva Griffin Smith; her husband, Zeb Melvin; and her brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Baxley, Annie Lee Melvin and friend Andy Phillips all of Autryville; two sons, William Baxley of Roseboro, Jackie Melvin and wife Doris of Wade; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, January 15 at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, and other times at her home.
