Mrs. Alice Jean Maxwell, 73

FAYETTEVILLE Mrs. Alice Jean Beard Maxwell (Mema), 73 went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 3, 2011 in Highland House Rehabilitation and Healthcare after a lengthy illness. She was born September 21, 1937 to Empie Addison and Edna Lee Hall Beard in Fayetteville. She was a devoted daughter in caring for her Mother for 15 years in her home. She married Daniel Gene "Danny" Maxwell on August 21, 1954. Alice Jean was a homemaker and loving mother in raising the six children in the home while Danny worked as a brick mason to provide financial security for the family. They remained devoted to each other through good times and bad times. Alice Jean was a longtime member of Sharon Baptist Church and will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sister Judith Ann "Judy" Beard Johnson and husband, John of Fayetteville; her children, Anita Maxwell Dowless and husband, Earl of Fayetteville, Connie Maxwell Dellinger and husband, Ken of Mint Hill, NC, Daniel Gene "Danny" Maxwell, Jr. and wife, Linda of Stedman, Aubrey Glen Maxwell and John Kevin "Johnny" Maxwell of Fayetteville, and Gregory Lee "Greg" Maxwell and wife, Marisa of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. The family will also receive family and friends at their homes. A service to celebrate Mrs. Maxwell's life will be conducted on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Sharon Baptist Church, 9957 Turnbull Road, Fayetteville, with Rev. Rob Wingo and Rev. Larry Wilkes officiating. She will be laid to rest in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are welcome, but if you choose, you may make a memorial gift to Sharon Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.
