PITTSBORO
Mrs. Alice Reininga Butler, 86 of Pittsboro and formerly of Roseboro, died on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Cambridge Hills of Pittsboro.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Roseboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Herring officiating. Burial will follow in the Roseboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Butler was born on April 1, 1925 in Evansville, Indiana, to the late William and Sadie Kahre Reininga. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by six brothers and one grandchild. Alice was a part of the Roseboro community for over 60 years and was a member of the Roseboro United Methodist Church. At the church, she taught Sunday School and joyfully participated in many other church related activities. She was the past president of the Methodist Women and the Roseboro Woman's Club. Among her many hobbies were gardening, reading, traveling, creating oil paintings and cooking for the family she loved.
She is survived by: her beloved husband of 64 years, Amos Robert Butler of the home; one daughter Jane Butler and husband, Bob Andrews of Siler City; four sons, Dr. Stephen R. Butler and wife, Marilyn of Sacramento, CA, David G. Butler and wife, Sharon of Morganton, Dr. R. Dean Butler of Charlotte, and G. Lynn Butler and wife, Taryn of Winston-Salem; one brother Alton Reininga and wife, Venita of Evansville, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
